Pandemonium

Arbitrary standards are all that we know
So why
Oh why
Do we let them define our world so?
For numbers and letters
(That’s all that they are)
Have such an iron grip
On our minds
And hearts
And the very sweat of our brow
Is directed
By a scarlet A
or a small glaring D

Oh life ain’t fair to the players
For the game is tilted one way or another
And noone sees through the strings if the system
But you
And me.

Oh life ain’t fair to those who cheat
And honest men cry while cheaters reap
their cornucopia of harvest from the promises they made
swindling their way through.

Oh life ain’t fair in any which way
And seldom puts on a straight
Or solemn face
But live and let live; lie and let lie
For there’s no escape
Or return
Or an easy way out
Until you remove your mind
From the shackles of this
Arbitrary
Meaningless
Swindling
Lie if a life.

I don’t like iPhone formatting. I’ll change capitalization and do proper formatting in the morn.
