Seeking to glimpse the silver moon
Instead, blinded by clouds so bright
Like paintings, streaks of gold and red
Lit up the sky in the cool twilight.
Reflecting the rays of our life giving sun
Blank canvases flash and fill my sight.
Mouth agape, I can’t help but wonder
How gold was changed from bought but white.
But soon a dark hand sweeps past;
my whispy dreams soon fade.
The sun has set, and try I might,
But can’t recall those visions if light.
tattered soles, dusty road
weary feet, weary eyes
sleep is for the dead, oh
sleep is for the grave.
hope is all we shall keep
weeping angels see
worlds come to rise and soon fall
motionless, locked in.
stony locks of love
watching, yet nought actions done
All Earth burns in flames
But rivers of faith
rushing, cleansing heavy hearts
peace reigns again
the dawn of the day comes with the setting sun
as empty offices glow, standing tall as Christmas trees.
Only in darkness will bright eyes be revealed
our spirits, unchained shadows, become free.
A battalion, 64 in 8 rows, on the dusty road
kilometers of unbrokeness, behind and ahead.
each wearer soldier no longer of his own
his mind and his past disappears in his trek.
Doom and despair are left in the wake,
shattered shards of heart left in Saigon.
What could we do, what actions can we take?
only to head towards eternity, forever marching on.
Feeling small against pinpricks of light
gazing upwards, facing the void
I see, not galaxies of great height
but gaps between, such darkness employed.
A single pair of eyes will choose and pick
gloss over the bright, to darkness within.
The windows of our souls merely reflect the abyss
blindness descends, panic follows and comes in.
Only pairs of singles could grow and overcome
your touch is the key to my heart and my eyes
I with you, and you with I my love
We shall see the reawakened sky
and joy, rejoice! Together we shall ride high.
So many emotions, overwhelming our senses
but never lasting for long
like a wave tossed through the ocean
our brain flitters and flutters
never staying long enough
in one spot.
But as we sway
to the rhythm of that ocean
a rare cloud sweeps over
that deep blue sky.
The shadow of doubt
lingers unlike any other
for though the waves come and go
changing with the moons and tides,
regret stays and sink through my soul
staining it black beyond belief.
Oh what I would have changed!
What I would have said and done!
But alas, Father Time is too cruel
and our time is
So with no island on the horizon
I must sail on, sail through
with nothing but myself to blame.
I wish I talked to you more, waigong and waipo, while you were here. I mis you so so so much, and I just want to see you still, to hear your murmur of shanghainese. Old age is not kind, and your sudden return was not easy. NOw all I can do is comfort and be comforted by the passage of time.
I miss you.
an angry mosquito bite
driving to anger
no escape, this itch
turns pleasure to nonstop pain
how could i escape?
only sweet release
of what was fought, and sought of
could bring peace once more.
swinging on the tip of the plane
as it cuts through the dark night.
gazing upwards to twinkling stars
but downwards to my heart.
departing from the land I loved,
from the place where time was still,
still moving even through golden days
and silver nights, resting on memories passed.
memories of the days of old
where not I, but others were the ones to go.
bidding adeus and farewells, but not long
’till teardrops fell like heavy welts upon the earth.
day after day turning into year after year
and yet never getting over the heartbreak
of leaving behind those familiar faces
and passing by, as ships in the distance.
but each bittersweet departure between friends
only opens up more to be explored,
only makes this dark planet a bit brighter,
only makes me closer to this small world of ours
and as the chilly air cuts through my mind
my thoughts turn crystal as the green light beckons me on
onwards to a new future and a bright beginning
chasing the horizon to the edges of the earth
but the compass for a fantastic future
will always be cemented in the lives of our past
And no matter how the dreams of our future change
we find solace in the friends we have made, in the gentle embraces, in the sweet farewells of the past.
Reaching through a veil of lies
Caressing the emptiness that lies inside
Feeling the breeze of false dreams,
Never noticing he’s trying to be seen.
